A quick overview on the
recycling program...
This is the 5th summer of recycling on Matinicus!

Our recycling sheds can take #2 plastic(such as milk jugs and some detergent bottles),
glass (all colors, mixed), any clean paper products (including magazines,
junk mail, office paper, newspapers, etc.), cardboard (including
corrugated), and some other things like tires, batteries, and
fluorescent tubes. We can also take electronics, almost anything with a cord...that
includes TVs!

To drop recycling at the sheds, you MUST CONTACT ONE OF THE VOLUNTEERS. We
have to keep the facility clean, and so people cannot just drop things off. All material
must be
sorted and clean.
To bring recyclables to sheds, contact:
Kathleen Colton- 366-3990
Ann Mitchell- 366-3161
Eva Murray- 366-3695
Tom Rankin- 366-3941

Sheds open on Saturdays between 10AM and 12 noon this
summer with no appointment necessary!

In 2005, we took approximately 10,000 pounds of recyclables off of the island. (That's 5
tons!!!)
