Boatbuilding on Matinicus may
branch out!

The class produced another beautiful 11 1/2 foot
Monhegan Island skiff, christened the "Emerald".
We had a fun launching, and got the opportunity
to row all three boats together. The Conrad K.,
The Island Girl, and The Emerald make a nice
little fleet..

CALHOUN!
The three boats, from left to
right, The Conrad K. (two
years ago), The Island Girl
(last year), and The Emerald
(this year)!
We did not build a boat this summer.
However, Daniel Clay returned to hold
several workshops on basic woodworking.
He hopes in future years to offer Shaker
chair building workshops and other such
projects, and also is giving some thought to
the design and building of a unique
"Matinicus Island skiff."
The Conrad K.,
Island Girl, and
Emerald (Now the
"Emerald Anne") are
all still on Matinicus
and enjoying their
time in the water.
